Staying at this hotel was a unique experience. The room, representing Matera town, felt cosy and comfortable despite its origins as a storage room for the nearby 'rock church. ' The location in amazing Matera made exploring the Sassi a breeze, with great access to all parts of the UNESCO site. Staying in the historic building in a fabulous part of town felt like living in a part of the old Abbots' rooms in a cave. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, suggesting some amazing local restaurants with exceptional food. The beautiful breakfast offered a wide selection of local products, and the unbelievable view over Matera from the terrace where I had breakfast made me eager to come back and recommend it to others.
